Our Directors

The Directors of Green Energy Sustainable Solutions Limited are Gordon Wylie, Mike Sheridan and David Toplas. Gordon and Mike have complementary skills and experience, and are both passionate about making a significant contribution to the maintenance of a sustainable environment within a technologically-advanced, growing UK economy.

Gordon Wylie

Gordon WylieGordon is a Chartered Engineer with an MBA from INSEAD. He has acquired wide-ranging senior management and business experience during his 34 years career. This experience includes building design and construction site management as a consulting engineer, capital projects & property consultancy on a very wide variety of assignments on major projects in UK and overseas, senior international commercial and business development roles at a global telecoms company and MD of a management consultancy focused on the profitable growth of small and medium-sized businesses.

Gordon has been a member of a UK Energy Policy Working Group organised by the Sainsbury Management Fellowship (SMF) Society (set up by Lord Sainsbury of Turville and the Royal Academy of Engineering in 1988 to sponsor Chartered Engineers to undertake MBAs at world-leading business schools). This Working Group has recently published a short paper entitled “Keeping the Lights On” which is being used to influence the UK Government's energy policy to meet both energy security and climate change targets. The SMF provides a unique viewpoint which combines engineering knowledge with an understanding of the economic issues.

Mike Sheridan

Mike SheridanMike is a Chartered Accountant (FCA) with extensive experience of Finance Director roles in turnaround and growth situations as well as raising equity finance from investors and financial institutions. He has gained international business experience and has been Finance Director in businesses with over 700 staff. Recently, Mike has been acting as Non-Executive Finance Director to a portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses.

David Toplas

David ToplisDavid has extensive experience in creating and managing a wide range of real estate portfolios, infrastructure assets and their funds. He is CEO of the Mill Group which he founded in 1994 having previously been a director of a number of unquoted public limited companies operating housing, student accommodation and home reversion property portfolios. His experience includes property funds in the commercial, residential development and investment sectors and he has acted as promoter and FCA-registered sponsor of public issues.

Looking forward he sees the opportunity and need to provide energy management solutions for tenants to maintain the attractiveness and to improve the commercial viability of residential and commercial portfolios, and to bridge the divide into energy infrastructure investment.

David has been a long term advocate of institutional investment in the UK residential sector, and he is dedicated to providing sustainable and long term returns. He is also passionate about providing more accessible and secure housing opportunities for aspiring households.

Mill Group is an independent specialist investment manager with a successful track record of over 20 years. Its focus is on long-term income generation through targeted asset acquisition and active management. Mill Group has demonstrated its expertise in conceiving, building and operating social infrastructure and residential property funds, and it has managed in excess of £2 billion of assets.

Prior to establishing GESS, Gordon and Mike set up (during 2010) and are directors of two solar PV companies in the UK:

Free Green Energy Corporation Limited (www.freegreenenergy.co) develops, owns and operates solar PV systems for the medium and large-scale commercial sectors.

Free Green Electricity Corporation Limited (www.freegreenelectricity.co.uk) develops, owns and operates solar PV systems for the domestic and small-scale commercial sectors.

Before 2010 they worked together on consultancy assignments in the renewable energy sector and developed an in depth understanding of the market.
